Nawaratna English Boarding School (From 2023 - 2024)
The School Mental Health Project provides comprehensive mental health and counseling services designed to improve students’ psychological wellbeing, emotional resilience, and overall learning environment. Students are the foundation of families, communities, and the nation’s future, making school mental health support an essential investment for long-term academic and personal success. Research consistently shows that students’ academic achievement, motivation, and behavioral development are closely connected to their emotional and psychological wellbeing. As a trusted psychological hub in Nepal, PICS NEPAL focuses on creating mentally healthy school environments through professional counseling and psychosocial support services.
The School Mental Health Program emphasizes social, emotional, behavioral, and academic learning for students from kindergarten to grade 10. Since students spend a significant amount of time in school settings, schools become one of the most effective spaces for early mental health intervention, emotional support, and prevention of psychological difficulties. Promoting school counseling and mental health awareness programs can help reduce children’s vulnerability to violence, self-harm, behavioral problems, child labor, emotional distress, and other psychosocial challenges. In addition, strengthening students’ mental health also supports teachers by helping create a healthier, safer, and more productive educational environment.
Through the PICS School Mental Health Project, PICS NEPAL has been providing professional school counseling and mental health services at Nawaratna English Boarding School since Bhadra 2080 B.S. This initiative has been benefiting students, parents, and teachers by improving awareness, emotional wellbeing, and access to mental health support within the school community. Guided by experienced counselors and senior psychologists, the program delivers both individual counseling and group counseling sessions based on the specific needs of students, teachers, and parents.
The project also provides psychoeducation and mental health awareness sessions on important topics such as anger management, stress management, academic motivation, emotional regulation, parenting skills, communication skills, and positive behavioral development. As a counseling center committed to accessible and preventive mental health care in Nepal, PICS NEPAL continues to promote healthy emotional development and supportive school environments through evidence-based psychological services and counseling programs.
